Bearden Rentals, LLC is a family-owned and operated property management company with deep roots in Arkansas. Our story began in 1961, when Mel Bearden and his wife moved from Louisiana with their first daughter and rented an apartment at Westview Apartments. It was there that Mel had a thought that would shape his future: “One day, I want to own these apartments.” Determined to provide for his growing family, he worked a variety of jobs—including selling insurance door-to-door, back when door-to-door sales were a common way to make ends meet.

In 1964, Mel’s second daughter was born, and just a year later, he achieved a milestone that would lay the foundation for the family legacy: purchasing their first home on Church Street, which remains part of our portfolio today. Over the years, Mel and his wife welcomed two more daughters, embracing the joys of a bustling household.

In 1973, a pivotal opportunity arose when Mel leased the Jordan Motel in West Memphis. He moved his family into the motel and rented out their Church Street home, marking the beginning of his property management journey. Over time, Mel’s dream came true, and he went on to own Westview, Oak View, Oak Terrace, Forrest Park, Avalon, and many other apartment communities, building a thriving and diverse portfolio.

Today, Bearden Rentals, LLC manages 183 apartment units in Jonesboro, West Memphis, and Marion, with 67 additional units currently under construction. Our portfolio also includes 20 commercial spaces and 33 single-family homes. Mel Bearden continues to lead the company with his unwavering dedication, supported by two of his daughters and a granddaughter in the office, as well as two grandsons who contribute to property maintenance.
